Cell and culture

Human breast epithelial cells (MCF-10A, CRL-10317) and BC cell lines MCF-7 (CRL-3435), T47D (HTB-133), SKBR3 (HTB-30), MDA-MB-231 (HTB-26), BT-474 (HTB-20) were purchased from American Tissue Culture Collection. The cells, except MDA-MB-23 cells, were cultured in DMEM (12491015, ThermoFisher, USA) containing 10 % FBS (30067334, ThermoFisher, USA), 1% penicillin/streptomycin (15140163,ThermoFisher, USA) at 37 °C in 5% CO2. MCF-10A cell line was cultured with additional 100 ng/mL cholera toxin (Hengyuan,China, http://www.hyswbio.com) on the basis of other cell culture condition. After culture for one day, the original medium was discarded, and the cells were washed 1–2 times by PBS. Next, 5 mL fresh DMEM medium was added and further incubated with the cells in a CO2 incubator. When the confluence reached 80%–90%, the cells were subcultured. MDA-MB-231 cells were cultured in Leibovitz’s L15 medium (11415064, ThermoFisher, USA) without CO2。
